New Year, new you!
Well it’s 2021 and many of us are reflecting on the past year…the good, the bad, and the ugly, and some of us are thinking of how to make this year better than last year. For me, like many, the past year was weird, difficult, uncertain, and sad, but there was also lots of laughter, happiness, and lots of bike rides. Date nights with my husband went from dinner and a movie to bike rides in the coulees, and I think it allowed us a chance to connect in a different way. I met some new friends, reconnected with a friend from childhood (#frenchiesforlife), got pushed outside my comfort zone, went on some adventures, and got lots of mountain therapy!
As we look forward to the new year, some of us are thinking about those new year’s resolutions. I was recently talking with a co-worker who shared a different way of thinking about goals and resolutions. ONE WORD. Pick one word that you will use to help guide you in the new year; how can you apply that word to a daily practice. I thought that this was a nice and simple way to make some changes in our lives. For me, my word will be KINDNESS. I have a tendency, like many of us, to be hard on myself and to not have much patience when I’m learning something new. So, for this year, I want to work on kindness with myself, I want to treat myself with kindness either through words or behaviours, including being kind when I’m not being kind to myself! Progress not perfection! lol!! What ONE WORD will you use to help guide you?
